Sugar-Free Wholesome Applesauce for Babies!

This super tasty applesauce is great for babies starting on solids & also for bringing in school lunches! The way I make applesauce is to add zero sugar or honey. Apples are sweet enough on their own! I do not peel my apples, as the peels add fiber as well as help to thicken the end result with their pectin content. If you are feeding this to a baby under 6 months, make sure to check with your doctor before doing so. I do not reccomend starting solid foods before 6-9 months, as the digestive system is not ready for fiber and complex carbohydrates. And if you are feeding this to older babies, mix up Baby's meals with lots of bone broth in addition to the applesauce. Otherwise Baby will expect sweetness at every meal. Feel free to cut this recipe in half, as I simply had a lot of extra apples on hand. Have a beautiful day!

Sugar-Free Applesauce by Rosemary Hansen

8-9 Organic (local if possible) Apples, chopped into medium chunks (not peeled)

1 3/4 cup Organic Apple Juice

1/2 tsp. Cinnamon

Chop the apples into medium chunks. Put them into a 2Qt. pot. Pour the juice over top of the apples. Sprinkle the Cinnamon over top of the apples. Heat the mixture to boiling point, then simmer until apples are soft and fall apart. Turn off the heat on the stove and very carefully spoon the mixture into a blender (or use a hand blender in your pot). Blend the applesauce until you don't see any more peels. Cool and enjoy! My son loves this applesauce mixed with homemade yogurt (see my how-to video!)

Other Variations:

Use 6 Apples & 1 cup of cranberries & 3/4 cup raisins for a tart/sweet flavor.

Try 4 Apples & 4 Pears with 1 tsp of ginger & 1 tsp of Cinnamon for a spicier version.
