"The most beautiful faces are clean, blemish-free, neat eyebrows, open-hearted smile, shining hair, moist lips, and a healthy glow to them. "
But not all of us have blemish-free faces.
If you have blemishes, don’t feel bad about covering them up. Just use natural makeup to do so and keep it simple. The more you touch blemishes, the worse they become.
I always use 100% Certified Organic makeup. It might smudge more, but keep a compact mirror handy and some cotton pads to wipe under your eyes or wherever it is smudging.
Clean acne and blemishes with rosewater and lemon toner, then apply your makeup. Try to give your face a day or more without makeup to heal and be left without the oil and other ingredients in your makeup.
Change your pillow cases often, at least once per week. Use all-natural unscented laundry detergent to clean them, no scents or chemicals. Definitely avoid fabric softeners!
Never go to bed without removing your makeup. Use simple products with one to five ingredients, no complicated chemicals.
Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
Not only is olive oil revered in the Mediterranean (and don’t those people have great skin?), but it is a great way to lose weight. Eating good fats gives our body energy that lasts longer and helps to curb cravings.
But have you ever thought of using it as a moisturizer? I regularly use some on my face and it absorbs fast and keeps my skin supple and moist. It may also help kill off bacteria associated with acne.
I usually leave it on for about 10 minutes (after a shower), then blot the excess with a soft cloth or paper towel.
If you have oily skin normally, or you have dermatitis, you might want to try only a small amount in an inconspicuous area before doing your whole face, as it might not be the best moisturizer for you. Other oils that absorb faster or are better for sensitive skin: jojoba oil, castor oil, and coconut oil.
